Dear Alumni and Friends,

Brebeuf College School and the Alumni Association are happy to support and help facilitate a Brebeuf History Project based on an idea from Michael Daoust '67 (former staff). His proposal is below.

Some time ago, I received a brochure from Covenant House that heralded their 40 years of service in Toronto. Instead of a long and detailed account of the origins and history of this charity, the brochure was filled with vignettes from some of the staff as well as some of the young people they have served and made a difference for over the years.

It was such an interesting and informative read. I wondered if that same approach could be used to help us mark Brebeuf College's 60 th Anniversary this fall.

Instead of writing a formal history of the school to mark this milestone, what about the idea of you, former staff and students, writing about how the school has impacted your life?

I know some of the "originals" at the school could write the broad strokes of Brebeuf's past. But that's only part of the story.

So often when I run into former colleagues and students, I am delighted to hear their accounts of the "good old days." From staff, memories of teaching alongside the Jesuits in the early years and later with the Presentation Brothers and beyond. From former students, there are accounts of band trips and school musicals, of enjoying Monday night floor hockey, of playing on a varsity team or being part of an outreach program like BRIDGE.

Undoubtedly, some of these stories entertain, others surprise but all reveal the profound influence Brebeuf College has on so many lives. That is the true legacy of the school. Perhaps we can tap into that!

I look forward to receiving your personal memories of your time at Brebeuf at mjdaoust@hotmail.com

Hopefully, with enough contributions, a wonderful keepsake or a meaningful on-line publication can be created to help celebrate this milestone.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and your help.
